JV Girls 3 Ruamrudee 0

Three first half goals from the prolific Nano (2) - Pye partnership saw the Lions steamroller RIS within minutes of their arrival. The bar was rattled twice, and both posts struck too, as Harrow created chances with relative ease. Susan’s debut was sadly cut short by an ankle injury (get well soon) but Boon’s return from the Visa Office was perfectly timed to allow the attacking players to rotate more regularly and rest rehydrate; with water and not bubble milk tea. Harrow remained hungry for more goals but RIS showed great heart in the second half and fought hard. The visiting keeper made some good saves but was also aided by the Lions’ regular decision to shoot straight at her. Get ready for shooting practise in training next week! Captain Stefanie grabbed a goal in the friendly final third as the Lions tried to use more of the available space. There were plenty of positives to take into the next match at NIST; not least May’s performance in defence, Ploy’s tireless running and support play and some excellent passing from Flo.

JV Girls 2 Bangkok Prep 0

A surprise fixture was met with a wonderful performance to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first half (played by the Varsity side). Bangkok Prep’s physical approach was met with resilience as the Lions battled in characteristically brave fashion. A flowing move involving Bonus and Nano was finished by Pye – a team goal of the highest quality. Pye then pounced on a defensive lapse to skillfully finish past the onrushing keeper, the ball slotted into the far corner with precision and power. The team held their shape impressively in the remaining minutes. When the opposition did create an opportunity, Jenny defused the threat with calm assurance. This was a performance that bodes well for the games ahead.
